METU Northern Cyprus Campus, Admisistrative Building, Library and IT Center Complex, Cyprus

This building complex is thought to be the most prestigious buildings of the new METU campus which is being constructed in Northern Cyprus. The building blocks are gathered around a courtyard taking into account the climatic conditions of the region. The overall plan of the campus has some references to the main campus in Ankara. This proposal criticizes this rather old orthogonal planning principle and grid structure by offering dynamic forms and spaces. On the ground level facing to the courtyard, the places which students will use everyday are placed. The building blocks are connected with bridges on the first floor level. The library, situated on the northern part has a two storey high ceiling, has an inspiring atmosphere with spaces hanging on this void. The solar panels on the southern wall of the library are used for desiccant cooling.
